2nd Annual Bass Fishing
Tournament

The
Schuyler Hose Company announces the results of the Second Annual
Bass Fishing Tournament.
The
tournament took place on Saturday, June 28 th
with contestants fishing on Fish Creek and/or
Saratoga Lake. The chairperson, Jim Doubleday, announced
that 48 people fished the tournament with everyone winning
something. The first place of $150 and a Minnkota trolling
motor for the heaviest string of five fish went to the team of
Tony Pascucci and Jeff Chandlier, who caught a total of 16 pounds,
10 ounces of bass. Second
place prize of $100 went to Jeff and Adam Stortz for a catch of 15
pounds, 13 ounces. The third place prize of $50 went to
Justin Liptak and Ted Spiezio for catching 14 pounds, 8 ounces of
fish.
The
largest fish was 4 pounds, 5 ounces, beating out three fish each
weighing 4 pounds, 1 ounce. That
bass was caught by 12 year old Adam Stortz. Seven year old
Andy Ashdown won a special prize for landing his 4 pound, 1 ounce
bass.
There
were numerous door prizes and raffle prizes including a fish TV by
Native Vision, a Fishin Buddy 1101, and many lures and fishing
reels.
A
special raffle for a 1st limited edition Ambassadeur
56004FD reel numbered 38 out of 911 made.
The number 38 is the shield number of firefighter Brian
Myers, Sr. who lost his life fighting a fire on January 1, 1997.
That prize was won by four year old Natalie Myers, the
granddaughter of Brian Myers, Sr. Nearly all of the bass was
cooked and eaten on the spot by participants. Food and
drinks were available from Frankly Speaking’s Jim Miers.
All
proceeds earned from the bass tournament will be used by Schuyler
Hose Company to purchase equipment to assist in water rescues.
