Company Picks Up Three Runs While on Stand-By
On Thursday June 5, 2008 at 11:48 SHC was dispatched to relocate one engine to the Gansevoort fire station.  Several northern Saratoga County fire departments including Gansevoort, South Glens Falls and Wilton were operating at a multiple alarm barn fire in Kingsbury Washington County. ER-573 with a six man crew under  the direction of Lt. Maguire relocated in Gansevoort at 12:00.  Car 57 Chief Myers and a second engine crew with ER-572 remained in our station for additional coverage.

At 12:50 South Glens Falls FD was dispatched to two additional alarms, a fire alarm at Epic Enterprise and a brush fire on Ft. Edward Rd.  ER-573 responded from the Gansevoort station and Car 57 moved north from SHC.  While enroute the fire alarm was confirmed to be a false alarm and ER-573 was redirected to the brush fire by South Glens Falls Car 580.

At 12:58 Gansevoort FD was dispatched to an ATV accident at 71 Leonard St.  Car 57 who was enroute to South Glens Falls was in the immediate area and arrived in first to the personal injury accident.  ER-572 responded from SHC to the Leonard St. incident.  Several first responders soon arrived and ER-572 was redirected to stand by in the Gansevoort station.

Car 57 cleared the Leonard St. incident at 13:25 and was enroute to the Ft. Edward Rd. brush fire when he noticed smoke coming from the windows of a barn on the Gansevoort Rd. (Rt. 32) at the intersection of Clark Rd.  Chief Myers confirmed a working structure fire in the apartment loft of the barn.  Gansevoort Car 240, Asst. Chief Haas arrived (he also just cleared Leonard St) and assumed command.  Several units that were staged at various fire houses converged on the area.  ER-572 (from Gansevoort) was first due and made quick work of the room and contents fire.  ER-573 arrived soon after and assisted 572's crew with venting and opening up the inside to check for fire extension, none was found.

All SHC units cleared the Gansevoort Rd. structure fire at 15:42 and units returned to full service at 16:30 with no injuries reported.
