Remembrance Tree
Lighting
The Schuylerville
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 278 hosted their annual Remembrance
Tree lighting ceremony on December 1, 2007 at the American Legion
Hall on Clancy St. Schuyler Hose sponsors a tree in honor of
our deceased members. The tree was decorated to recall the contributions of all
deceased firefighters who served Schuyler Hose Company since its
reorganization in 1953. Each of the thirty seven firefighters,
including Brian Myers Sr. who died in the line of duty, had their
name written on a wooden red fire truck and hung on the tree. The
tree was lighted with 150 red lights representing the lights on
top of the fire trucks they rode on the way to put out fires for
their community. The white star on the top of the tree indicated
the purity of their efforts to serve the community they lived in.
Once again a special thanks to FF Frank Merrill
and his wife Bonnie for their efforts in not only making the
ornaments but also decorating the tree.
