Lemoyne
Rev.
William F. Lemoyne, 85, Pastor Emeritus of Notre Dame-Visitation
Parish in Schuylerville, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the
Wesley Health Care Facility in Saratoga Springs.
Father
Lemoyne was born June 1, 1924 in Sainte Helene, Quebec, Canada,
son of the late William Lemoyne and Rose Raymond and step-son of
Anthime Bisaillon.
He
graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Cohoes in 1939, Joliet
Seminary, Joliet, Quebec, Canada in 1942, attended St. Andrews
Seminary in Rochester from 1942 -1944, Mount St. Mary's College
and Seminary, Emmitsburg, Maryland from 1944-1949, and was
ordained at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Albany on June
11, 1949 by Bishop Edmund F. Gibbons.
His
assignments included, St. Luke and St. John the Evangelist in
Schenectady, St. Patrick's in Troy, Chaplain at St. Peter's
Hospital in Albany, and served as Pastor of Norte Dame DeLourdes
(Notre Dame-Visitation) in Schuylerville from 1964 until he
retired in 1994.
Active
in the Schuylerville community, he was Chaplain of Council # 1735
Knights of Columbus, Chaplain of Court Stella Maris CDA, was a
member of the General Schuyler Emergency Squad, Chaplain of
Schuyler Hose Company, member of the Schuylerville Ecumenical
Clergy, and delivered meals on wheels.
Father
was also a member of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus and the
Msgr Daniel F. Curtin General Assembly and held the office of our
Faithful Friar.
Survivors
are his parish family, cousins in Canada, and a cousin, Angel
Spickler of Waterford.
A
funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre Dame-Visitation Church,
Pearl Street, Schuylerville 11 am Wednesday, August 19, 2009 by
The Most Reverend Howard Hubbard, Bishop of the Diocese of Albany.
Rev. Richard Carlino, Pastor of St. John's the Evangelist in
Schenectady will be the homilist.
Reception
of the body will be at 4 pm Tuesday at the church and friends may
call until 7 pm.
The
Rite of Committal will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Cohoes.
Memorial
contributions can be made to Notre Dame-Visitation Church.
