BULLARD THERMAL IMAGINING
CAMERA

On Saturday morning January 19, 2002
the Schuyler Hose Company took delivery of a new (demo) Bullard Thermal Imaging
Camera. This purchase was done solely using money raised by SHC through
our fund raising efforts. A fund has been established by SHC to help us
offset the expenses incurred by the purchase of this camera. We would like
to thank Mrs. Yvonne Woolley of Burgoyne Rd. for getting the fund started.
Here is a portion of Mrs. Woolley's
letter dated December 16, 2001:
Dear Members,
In October of 1980 there was a
fire at the home of our son and his family, Paul, Jane and Aarika Woolley (then
3 months old) at 5 Church St. Ext. It was near dawn and the family
was asleep and unaware of the fire. Francis Murphy was a neighbor of the
family at that time. Fran noticed the fire as he was leaving his home near
dawn that morning. Fran went into the house and found his way to the
bedroom through smoke so thick it was impossible to see. He awakened the
family and guided Paul, Jane & Aarika to safety.
Aarika has recently celebrated
her 21st birthday, a miracle for which we are all thankful. On behalf of
our family, I would like to initiate a fund in Aarika's name for the specific
purpose of purchasing an imaging camera. The safety of our local fire
personnel is of utmost importance as they serve our community. Current
technology, though expensive, is providing ways to help make your job a safer
one.
Mrs. Yvonne Woolley
Fran Murphy is a life member of SHC
serving since 1970. Fran is also a career firefighter with the Saratoga
Springs FD serving as the Asst. Fire Chief. And to round it off Fran is
also a NYState Fire Instructor serving Saratoga County.
The project of selecting a TIC
started over the summer. Several TIC's were tested and a lot of research
was conducted. The Bullard TIC was purchased from Steve Rossi of AAA
Emergency Supply Co. in White Plains, NY. The final cost of the camera was
$13,999. We would like to thank Steve & AAA for donating the truck
mounting and charging system in the memory of FF Brian D. Myers, Sr.
TIC DONATIONS

two donations for the Thermal Imaging Camera Fund on April 4, 2002. The
