October 2nd all department hose was tested by Safety First Fire Equipment Testing.  Three 100’ lengths of 5” supply hose failed.  Waiting for the official report.

At the Schuyler Hose Co. monthly meeting on October 5th the members present accepted the membership applications of;

  • Stephen Willette, resident of the village.
  • Tyler Alheim (re-joining), resident of the village.

The applications have been forwarded to the village board for approval at their October 11 meeting.


The resignation of Probationary FF Jacob Whiting was read and accepted at the monthly meeting on October 5th.  Jacob has moved out of the district.

October 10th three members attended the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.  Members attending:

  • President Richard Behrens
  • Captain Scott Maguire
  • FF Travis Holcomb


October 11th all department apparatus fire pumps were tested by KME-NY.  Waiting for the official report.


October 13th department conducted annual fire prevention day activities at the Schuylerville Elementary School.  Morning activities included a fire evacuation drill and display of fire apparatus and equipment.  The afternoon consisted of fire prevention activities in the classroom.  Assisting Schuyler Hose included:

  • Wilton EMS
  • Victory Fire
  • Quaker Springs Fire
  • Gansevoort Fire


October 22nd Prob. FF Justin Decker completed 24 hour NYS OFPC Engine Company Operations Course hosted by Malta Ridge Fire Co.


October 23rd the new command vehicle was delivered.  2017 Ford Interceptor was purchased on state contract.  Final installation equipment will need to be completed before placing it in service.
